Beautiful Ladoix 1er Cru. Les Gréchons et Foutrières is located at 360 meters altitude, the highest point of the village of Ladoix-Serrigny, Beaune and is oriented to the east. Powerful white Burgundy with an unusual freshness. Ripe, red apples and gooseberries on the nose and aromas of candied apricots and peaches with a fine weightiness on the palate. Also has something of a beautiful New Zealand Chardonnay. Beautiful Ladoix from Marchand that can be drunk early.
Pascal Marchand is a small producer with a big name. The Canadian poet moved to Burgundy at the age of 21, where he was winemaker at Domaine du Comte Armand, Clos des Epeneaux in 1985. Here he became convinced of a purely organic method, fair for the land and the grapes. In 1999 he became responsible for the new Domaine de la Vougeraie in Burgundy. Here too he introduced the organic method. After some wanderings and consulting jobs, the first step towards his own company was taken in 2006. A few years later (2010) he found financial support from the Canadian banker Moray Tawse, who also bought some vineyards and the Maume (Gevrey) estate. In addition to the 8 ha of own vineyards that are cultivated biodynamically, organic grapes are also bought from third parties.
In 2018 the documentary 'Grand Cru' was made about him, definitely recommended.
