Jo Landron (Domaine de Louvetrie)
5 products
In the north-western part of the Loire, near Nantes, lies the appellation Muscadet S&M, not to be confused with the sweet Muscaat wines. The official name of the grape is Melon de Bourgogne, which has nothing to do with Burgundy.
The cheerful Jo (very recognizable because of his gigantic moustache) is a pioneer in biodynamics in the Loire. He has been working organically since 1999 and received the ECOCERT bio certificate in 2002. He has managed to expand the estate from 26 hectares to 48 hectares of vineyards. His wines are crystal clear and many cuvées can also age well. In addition to mainly Melon de Bourgogne, he also grows some Folle Blanche, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay.
Forget everything you think you know about the classic Melon de Bourgogne, Jo gives it a big twist, with results. The extreme minerality always almost tangible, but then with very long fermentations sur-lies. His dedication is visible in every cuvée, full of finesse, elegance and precision.
“ Jo Landron remains one of his region's most conspicuous over-achievers, and his name (or that of one of the domaines with which he is affiliated) on the label a virtual guarantor of fine quality .” David Schildknecht
