Description
Argile Rouge is a very energetic, fresh and yet deep red from Domaine des Ardoisières made mainly from Gamay, with a little Mondeuse Noire and Persan.
The Gamay gives the liveliness, the funk, while the Mondeuse and Persan add the power. Violets, intense herbs, spicy red fruit and a very mineral structure. You could almost call it a mix of your favorite vin nature Beaujolais together with your favorite Bourgeuil Cabernet Franc but then cultivated on a mountain. The Mondeuse comes from 50 year old vines on a clay soil in Saint-Jean-de-la Porte, the Gamay and Person from 40 year old vines on slate in Saint-Pierre-de-Soucy.
