Description
Complex Jura Pinot Noir. The terroir consists of Chailles clay, limestone mixed with flint, which gives the wine a beautifully balanced earthy character with a smoky edge. Ripe dark red fruit of strawberries and plums with elegant tannins and a silky soft structure. High quality Thill Jura
Eric Thill originally comes from Alsace, where his family makes wine on the Schlossberg. After studying in Dijon, he moved with his wife Bérengère to the Haut-Rhin (Jura) in 2007, just 45 kilometres below Arbois, and bought a 2.76-hectare estate there. They built both the vineyard and the cellar themselves. The estate has been certified organic since 2015 and the 5.8 hectares are now biodynamically cultivated. Eric prefers wines from a single grape variety. The land therefore consists of more than 50% Chardonnay grapes, with a few vines where Savagnin, Pinot Noir and Poulsard are grown. His vines are all located on the west and have an average age of 50 years. Only 25 hl/ha.
