Description

Cool, slightly oxidative Crémant de Loire. Ripe citrus, yellow apple peel, light brioche and nice bitters in the aftertaste. Very festive, even on Monday.

Since 1973, Domaine de la Garrelière has been in the hands of the Plouzeau family. François and Pascale have been at the helm since

1985 and although they are ECOCERT organic certified, they work strictly biodynamic. Some wines have minimal sulfite added and some are sulfite free.
The 18 hectares of the estate are located halfway between Poitiers and Tours, Domaine de la Garrelière belongs to the southern part of the Touraine appellation. The terroir here consists mainly of sand and gravel. The estate practices biodynamic agriculture on the plots. Sauvignon blanc, Chenin blanc, Gamay and Cabernet Franc are grown there, among other things. The winemaker François Plouzeau relies exclusively on his intuition during vinification. He describes his most important tool as follows: “My nose is my best advisor!”

  • Country / Region: France / Touraine (Loire)
  • Grape variety(ies): 40% Chenin, 40% Cabernet Franc, 20% vin reservé
  • In the vineyard: Terroir of clay, sand and flint. Organic farming, harvested entirely by hand.
  • In the cellar: Méthode ancestrale. Cold fermentation. Maturation sur-latten for 12 months
  • Quality mark: ECOCERT – Vin Nature
  • Goes well with: Aperitif, shellfish, salads, white fish, egg yolk, lardo, truffle, beurre noisette
