Description
One of the oldest original grapes in the Rioja, the Maturana Blanca. The Ingenium Maturana Blanca. A full white Rioja, although they are not allowed to call it Rioja. Matured for five months on French oak without the addition of sulphites. Ripe apple and yellow peach and plum, raisins, mint, creamy, aromatic. Full and round, aromatic and spicy and a touch oxidative. a very gastronomic wine that goes well with strongly spiced curries, matured cheeses and fish.
The Ingenium wines are made by Viñedos Ruiz Jiménez, the house that is also responsible for the wines of Osoti. The latter wines are, although produced entirely biodynamically, somewhat more classic in style. The Ingenium wines are made entirely naturally, without any additives, filtering or clarification and with only the grape's own yeasts.
The winery was founded in 1998 and to this day they are the only ones in Rioja that are organic and Demeter certified.
