Description
Cour-Cheverny is a small appellation (only 48ha in total!) and Romorantin is the only white grape allowed to be used. Rich and generous wine with complex notes of petrolium, acacia and ripe tropical fruit plus an oxidative edge.
Father Roger Tessier started planting vines next to his asparagus fields in 1961. Son Philippe took over the management of the vineyards in 1981 & expanded the wine growing to 24 hectares, divided over 2 appellations, Cheverney and Cour-Cheverny. Since 1998 the vineyards have been farmed organically, the Ecocert certificate followed in 2002. Philippe grows Sauvignon blanc, Chardonnay, Côt, Pinot Noir, Gamay and of course the local Romorantin.
