Description
Bouzeron Blanc 2020 has a light nose that is both lemony and floral, with notes of green apples and almonds in the mouth. Well defined by a fresh and non-aggressive acidity. Overwhelming in richness thanks to the good ripeness of the late-picked grapes (first weeks of October). Balanced in roundness, the attack and the salty minerality in the finish and some notes of wild herbs. All these qualities together, ensure that this Bouzeron once again expresses the great quality of the terroirs of all 17(!) Aligoté plots. A wine with a lot of vibration and energy.

In the vineyard: Grapes from 17(!) different micro-plots with an average age of 65 years, the oldest plot is 115 years old. Terroir consisting of poor marl-limestone soils.
In the wine cellar: Grapes go directly through a pneumatic press. Slow pressing, spontaneous fermentation in both stainless steel and old oak tanks.

The beautiful Domaine de Villaine can be found in Bouzeron, situated in the Côte Chalonnaise, south of Chassagne-Montrachet and Santenay, north of Rully and Mercurey. One of the most beautiful parts of Burgundy, so to speak. The monks of Cluny planted vines here as far back as the early Middle Ages.
Thanks to the many hours of sunshine in the valley and the superior terroir, characteristic wines of very high quality are produced here with a long tradition. We only see Aligoté here, the somewhat (unjustly) neglected child of the Chardonnay grape. Bouzeron is unique in this: it is the only village in Burgundy where this variety is grown exclusively on the slopes.
The vines are grown exclusively on slopes, between 270 and 350 metres above sea level. The poor soils have a high limestone content which ensures good yield control and the warm microclimate promotes the ripening of the grapes. The very small surface area of the appellation makes the AOC Bouzeron one of the 'secrets' of Burgundy.
