UPDATE: The last bottles of Nouveau are available in stores!
When autumn finally makes its entrance and the harvest season comes to an end, there are a few things you can set your watch by. One of those things: The launch of the Beaujolais Nouveau! Every year we look forward to the generous, juicy and fruity gamay wines from our winegrowers, and we probably dream away to the cosily packed eateries: Condensation on the windows, sultry candlelight, the thirsty *Plop sounds of uncorking, the roasted chestnuts, the paté en croute, the romance! Every 3rd Thursday of November: Long live the Beaujolais primeur!
Order your bottle(s) here because once they're gone, they're gone.
Beaujolais Nouveau is a primeur wine that can be drunk in the same harvest year. Beaujolais primeur can be sold and served from the third Thursday in November. We can send the ordered bottles from 21/11 (or they can be picked up in our store from that date).
About the winery:
On the border of Burgundy and Beaujolais, at the crossroads of the Mâconnais and Beaujolais between the villages of Leynes and Chaintré to be precise, lies Château de Lavernette. The estate has been under the authority of the monks of the Tournus Abbey since 1596, who were the lords of the area at the time. The vineyards were already part of the estate at that time and there was also a "tinailler" (wine storage) with two presses and four large tanks. Today, the property of Château de Lavernette belongs to the de Boissieu family, descendants of the Lavernette family. For generations, they have been making different styles of Pouilly-Fuissé, Beaujolais and Beaujolais Blanc.
The vineyard has been cultivated since 2005 according to the techniques of organic farming, with respect for land and nature in order to create beautiful terroir wines. Since 2007 they have been working completely biodynamically. Xavier - son of Bertrand and Anke - and husband Kerrie, all work together on the family estate. Through the diverse combination of their qualities, experiences and knowledge they know how to produce first class Burgundy wines at Chateau Lavernette. And so also this young, juicy and playful Beaujolais primeur.
