Description

Super complex, very oxidative and very exciting. Composition of vin liquoreux from sémillon that has been stored in barrels for 12 years. This gives a very dry, oxidative wine. The sweetness comes from the Petit manseng, which has been stored in barrels for two years as an orange wine from 2019. Definitely a very special one in the range and promised, one that you will not come across much more often. A sweet, oxidative wine, with only 12% alcohol, from the Périgord, pérfect with cheese.

In the heart of Périgord (Dordogne), right next to Bergerac, we find Château Lestignac. The winery has been run by the young Camille and Mathias Marquet since 2008. The couple took over the château from Mathias' grandparents, after which they immediately introduced biodynamics. On their 7.5 hectares of private land, they now cultivate the land completely biodynamically and work with local grapes as much as possible. The approximately 40-year-old vineyards are planted on different soils: a clay-limestone plateau and various limestone slopes with flint.

When disaster struck in 2017 and the entire harvest of Chateau Lestignac was lost to frost, Camille and Mathias decided to look for winegrowers who farmed organically/biodynamically, but did not make wine themselves. They discovered a world of cool winegrowers who did not have access to a cellar to make or store wine. With these farmers and their grapes, they started the company Hors les Murs ('Outside the Walls') in 2018, where they work as marquet négociants . The couple wants the process to be clear and transparent. For example, the name 'Lestignac' no longer appears on the bottle and it is honestly stated where and from whom all the grapes come.
