Description
Pif Sauvignon Blanc, a fresh mineral white wine from Touraine, France. Juicy and clear, a round mouthfeel and with fine refreshing acids in the aftertaste. With aromas of green apple, fennel and peach and a hint of freshly mown grass this is a whole suitable candidate for the terrace in the sun. Makes everyone happy, a success story.
Domaine la Piffaudiere, we had our eye on it for quite some time as a highly sought-after addition to our collection. But alas, it just wouldn't get off the ground. And yet, during a visit to the Jura in March 2023, we found ourselves sitting right next to the man himself during a dinner at Le Comptoir des Docks in Arbois. Contact was made, the tasting bottles came out of the trunk and the collaboration was sealed. Here it is, finally on our shelf.
Olivier Bellanger (1978) grew up with and around winemakers, east of Tours. He has been working between the vineyards and in the cellars since 2000, including some time with Philippe Tessier. In 2008 he bought his first own, 6 hectares of vineyards in Monthou , near his birthplace. In the first years of Domaine de la Piffaudiere, there was technically no domain yet and the vinification took place in the cellars of friends and he sold part of his fruit to make ends meet. Nowadays everything comes from his own domain and there are now 11 hectares. He works completely organically and only with the typical grapes of the region; côt (=malbec), sauvignon blanc, gamay and pineau d'aunis.
