Two lively gentlemen in the foreground, a golden yellow color, a fruity and charming nose enhanced by Sauvignon, rich and filling thanks to the Melon de Bourgogne and tension of Chenin. Citrus on top, a bit of pear and apple, a touch of butter, some softly roasted blanched almonds and fine brioche. A light fresh vin nature. unpretentious and very enjoyable.
The Domaine Pithon-Paille was founded in 2008, but Jo Pithon (one of the four founders) has been working his vineyards in the "low-intervention" way since 1978 (which was really unheard of at the time). Pithon-Paille is therefore rightly a pioneer in the natural wine movement. Around 2018, a lot has changed. Joseph has moved to the South of France (where his wife Wendy Paillé is a winemaker at Le Soula) and Jo Pithon's son did not want to become a winegrower. So problems at Pithon-Paillé because Jo Pithon is not a marketing man, he prefers to work in the vineyard. Chenin blanc fanatic Ivan Massonat (CEO of a trust fund) had been working for years in oenology and studying the different appellations of the Loire. He has taken over Pithon-Paillé and Jo Pithon continues to work in the vineyards as a winegrower! The vineyards (13 ha) are located in the Loire valley 25 km south of Angers.

Grape variety : Blend of Melon de Bourgogne from Muscadet, Chenin from Anjou and Sauvignon from Touraine.
In the vineyard : Manual harvest and biodynamic. The geology of the area is very complex, called 'Armorican Massif', where the parent rock consists of metamorphic and magmatic rocks (schist, spilite, 'poudingues' and carbon).
In the cellar : The three grape varieties are pressed slowly and for a long time and matured in barrels for six months. The final blend is made at the last moment.
