Description

Collab alert! Werner Näkel's eldest daughter Meike from the Ahr and Ullrich Klumpp's eldest son Markus from Baden found each other at the Weinuni of Geisenheim. They both make wine in typical German red wine regions: Markus is the cellar master of Weingut Klumpp and Meike at Meyer-Näkel. Together they make their 'Weinbaby', the Hand in Hand line. This is the Spätburgunder, which really pops out of the glass: forest fruit, black cherry, currant, typical 'würzig' (juniper, cloves, liquorice), fine wood influence, mouth-filling in taste with good acidity and a ripe tannin structure.

  • Country / Region: Germany / Baden
  • Producer: Weingut Klumpp
  • Grape variety(ies): 100% spätburgunder
  • In the vineyard: In 2022, all the grapes for this wine come from Klumpp in Baden. This is because the Ahr is still recovering after the devastating flood in July 2021. Spätburgunder from loess-clay soil with a high lime content.
  • In the wine cellar: After selective manual picking, the grapes are crushed, macerated and (partly spontaneous) fermented in small barrels (10% Saignee), then matured in barriques for 10 months.
  • Quality mark: Organic
