Description
Ballon Blanc from Cros des Calades, Delicious fresh cuvée with juicy notes of white stone fruit and a somewhat spicy, riper finish. A case of real value for money. The all-rounder we were all waiting for. Well balanced thanks to the harmonious blend of Viogner, Rousanne & Sauvignon and the ripeness of the south, without sacrificing freshness.
Cros des Calades is a new winery from Florence and Benoit Chazallon of Château de la Selve. They vinify as many organic grapes as possible from 5 different vineyards within a 5km radius of their own home in Grospierre, in the southern Rhône region. They operate according to the same ethos as their main château, with respect for terroir and minimal intervention in both the vineyard and the cellar.
Country / Region: France / Rhône Valley
Grape variety(ies): Viogner, Rousanne & Sauvignon
In the vineyard: Vines on clay-limestone soils, situated between the Rhône and the Cevennes. Vines average 30 years old.
