Description

New in our range: Domaine De Souch. At the foot of the Pyrenees around the Atlantic Ocean at an altitude of 332 meters above sea level. This is where the crystal-clear, tight wines of the Domaine De Souch house are produced. Winemaker Yvonne Hegoburu was 60 years old when she decided to start making wine here in 1987. She was one of the first to work completely biodynamically in the region. Today she has 7 hectares of land, the vineyards are south-facing and are largely planted with Petit Manseng and Gros Manseng. The vineyards have been fully biodynamically certified since 1994. The yields here are low, never more than 30hl per hectare and the soil consists of heavy "flinty'' clay called poudingues , this combination produces intense wines with high acidity and special minerality.

The sweet wines of De Souch are picked 15 days after the harvest of the dry wines. The wines have a nice balance between dosed residual sugar and a razor-sharp acidity. In the youth still nice and fresh and can be nicely drunk as an aperitif (comparable to a German Riesling kabinett). As the wine ages it becomes nicely ripe with fine aromas of blossom, quince, acacia and ripe stone fruit.
