Description

Edelzwicker, so-called a noble blend of Alsace of 60% pinot blanc / auxerrois, 30% gewurztraminer and 10% muscat. You could call it the starter of the Lissner house, although that sounds a bit patronizing for a wine like this. Price-quality ratio at its best. Salty and with a very fine acidity, a good length and tropical tones of the aromatic grapes and full of life.
Very tasty with mild Asian cuisine, as an aperitif or summer salads.

Country / Region: France / Alsace
Grape variety(ies):
60% pinot blanc / auxerrois, 30% gewurztraminer, 10% muscat
In the vineyard: Fully biodynamic farming. Soil consisting of a very diverse terroir.

About 20 kilometers from Staatsburg, in the small village of Wolxheim, you will find Domaine Lissner. The history of the estate goes back to 1848, but the house has only been fully independent since the 1930s. In 2001, former agronomist and scientist Bruno Schloegel took over the estate from his uncle at the age of 40 Clément Lissner. Funny enough, Bruno didn't drink wine until he was 34. Bruno's son Theo soon joined his father and breathed new life into the estate.

On 10 ha, of which more than 1 ha. Grand Cru Altenberg de Wolxheim, mainly Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewurtztraminer, Muscat, Auxerois are grown. Completely biodynamic (since 2007 it has carried the Ecocert-bio label), with the greatest respect for flora and fauna and the preservation of a very diverse biodiversity, the house works purely natural. They do not plough, mow or prune the vines, but only move the new shoots in the summer to let nature take its own course. They even plant new vines straight into the wild, albeit without pre-treating or pruning the land.

In their beautiful, brand new wine cellar just outside the village, the grapes go through cold, slow fermentation periods, very slow pressings and they ripen sur-lies. This results in intense, salty and powerful wines, pure terroir wines. Wines that can easily lie for many, many years and only become more beautiful. Completely natural and yet sparkling clean. That's how it can be done. Alsace wines from Lissner that put Alsace and thus Wolxheim, firmly on the map. For those who love classic and a wild edge.
