Description

A Bordeaux that goes against convention, made on the fruit, without the strict character of the average Bordeaux. Soft fruit, minerality and freshness make this a vin de plaisir as you don't often see them in Bordeaux. 100% Merlot with 2-3 years of maturation in old barriques.

On the right bank of Bordeaux, just west of the famous appellations of Pomerol and Saint-Émilion, you will find Fronsac. Here, Bénédict and Grégoire Hubau cultivate Merlot in an atypical way. Firstly, because in the neighbouring appellations, Merlot grapes are mainly planted on clay and gravel. The result is the rich and voluptuous wines that are known from Pomerol and Saint-Émilion. In Fronsac, the vines, with an average age of 65 years, are mainly on limestone soil. This poor soil gives a very fruit-driven, minerally but above all energetic wine!

Bénédicte and Grégoire Hubeau do not come from a family of winemakers and have no oenological training. was a computer specialist, the other a chemist. Originally from the north of France, they started in 1990. In traditional Bordeaux, they are one of the few who practice biodynamic farming and limit their use of sulphites to very small amounts only at bottling.
